About massage and acupuncture

Which service is right for me?

Whether you’re training for a marathon or just trying to survive a week of sitting at a desk, your body takes a hit. At Thrive, we combine hands-on therapy with clinical techniques to get you moving

Sports massage

It isn't just for athletes; it’s for anyone with a body. This is a targeted, functional treatment designed to work deep into the muscle layers. We break down stubborn tension, improve your range of motion, and flush out the "heavy" feeling that comes from intense training or long days at a desk.

  • Best for: Reducing soreness, improving posture, and keeping you moving freely.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles to communicate with your nervous system. By targeting specific points, we can "turn down the volume" on chronic pain and reduce systemic inflammation. It’s a gentle yet powerful way to bring the body back into balance and promote deep, natural healing.

  • Best for: Chronic pain, nerve sensitivity, and calming a stressed-out system.

Dry needling

While it uses the same needles as acupuncture, Dry Needling is purely anatomical. We find the specific "trigger points" (the knots you can feel) and use the needle to provoke a quick twitch response. This forced relaxation allows the muscle to instantly release its grip and lengthen.

  • Best for: Targeted "knots," acute muscle tightness, and restoring immediate flexibility.

Sports massage: More than just a rubdown

Don’t let the name fool you—you don’t need an Olympic medal to benefit from a sports massage. Think of this as a high-performance tune-up for your muscles.
While a spa massage focuses on relaxation, a sports massage gets into the nitty-gritty of your soft tissue. We use targeted techniques to break down tension, improve circulation, and reset your range of motion.

How it helps:
  • The athlete: Flushes out metabolic waste after a hard session and speeds up recovery so you can hit your next PB.
  • The office warrior: Reverses desk-slouch by releasing tight shoulders, necks, and lower backs caused by long hours at a computer.
  • The Weekend Hiker: Increases flexibility and reduces the "stiff" feeling that follows a day on the trails.

Medical acupuncture and dry needling: Hitting the reset button

If a muscle is stuck in a painful knot that won't budge, acupuncture (or Dry Needling) is often the missing piece of the puzzle.
By inserting ultra-fine, sterile needles into specific "trigger points," we create a tiny stimulus that encourages the muscle to finally let go. It sounds intense, but most people find it surprisingly relaxing—and the relief is often instant.

The Benefits:
  • It helps quiet the nervous system, reducing the "volume" of chronic pain.
  • Reaches deep-seated knots that hands alone sometimes can't get to.
  • Increases local blood flow to injured areas, kickstarting your body’s natural repair process.
  • Beyond the physical, it’s a powerful way to lower cortisol and help you feel more grounded.
